Partnering with KBIC Academic Leadership

We have the immediate resources, personnel, supplies, and databases available to not only ensure a successful recruitment, but to also complete all scopes of the work and specifications outlined. And, because of that, we will not be subcontracting any portion of the work to outside entities. We are prepared to begin working on search assignments for your institution immediately following the execution of the agreement.

All work will be performed out of our main office headquartered at 5908 Headquarters Drive, Suite K200, Plano, TX 75024. Because we are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, our ability to be anywhere within the country is fast and cost effective.

Kaye/Bassman International Corp. is unique in that even though we are the 9th largest executive search firm in the U.S., we have owner participation in every search. Because of the boutique nature of our firm, Kaye/Bassman encounters fewer conflicts than our larger competitors. This gives us access to a significantly larger pool of academic leaders with diverse backgrounds and enables us to identify and procure the most gifted leaders in your organization.

  • Senior Partner/Consultant involvement in every aspect of the search, from the initial client meeting to the search’s conclusion. Why is this important? The partner/sr. consultant who interviews Search Committee members is the same person developing the strategic sourcing plan, initiating the calls (critical in attracting candidates – we design a valuable proposition to attract prospects), and evaluating candidates. The partner/sr. consultant leads candidate and client interview preparation (identifies hot buttons and requirements to guide the interview process), offer, placement, and onboarding. They retain hands-on ownership of each search, and they are highly visible, easily reachable, and personally accountable throughout every step of the executive search process.
  • In addition, we offer specialty focused sections within our department. Our expert search consultants focus on two to three specialties at any given time. This method ensures that we have full access to the academic candidate pool through consistent contact with the targeted community of faculty and leadership within those specialties. This ensures quicker results and higher quality candidates with diverse backgrounds through referral and word-of-mouth sourcing.
  • More than 100 years of combined recruitment and consulting experience conducting permanent placement searches for professionals at all levels within academic medical centers and their affiliated teaching hospitals, clinics, and rural community hospitals nationally.
  • We can attract candidates who prior to our call/outreach would have had no interest in considering a new opportunity. WHY? We design a value proposition to attract candidates. 70% of candidates presented were not actively looking for a new opportunity.
  • Lastly, we always offer customized processes and value-added services at no additional charge. Consistent with our approach to partnering with our clients, we believe that the value that we bring to you and the fees paid to our firm should be tied to deliverables received. We offer video screening and interviewing tools to accommodate the client’s schedule, expedite the process, and reduce costs on travel. By using interviewing/video screening tools (included in our price), candidates can be evaluated before going to the expense of bringing them out for an on-site visit at your institution. Additionally, these recordings can be used by the search committee members to review candidates on their own time versus trying to get everyone’s schedules to match, saving additional time and money. We also offer professional assessment tools at an additional cost.

Equal Employment Opportunities Policy:

As an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer, Kaye/Bassman remains committed to a search process that incorporates diversity as a top priority. KBIC will follow EEOC guidelines that apply to job advertisements and recruitment. We agree to provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics. In addition to federal law requirements, KBIC complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location in which we conduct business. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.

Unlike many of our competitors who simply pursue as many search opportunities as are available, we recognize our success is contingent upon our ability to identify candidates that fit your institution’s culture and are able to contribute their experiences and skillset to the successful implementation of your institutional goals. Therefore, we only pursue searches we believe we have the expertise, candidate access, and time to successfully fill and exceed your expectations. We currently have the available resources and staff support to begin working on your search immediately and to ensure meeting an aggressive implementation schedule.

All searches are led by Managing Partners and Directors who will be working on three (3) to four (4) searches in active mode at any one point in time. This allows for enough time and energy to be spent on your search during the initial discovery, candidate research identification, and interviewing phases of the search process. This will not affect our ability to complete academic physician and executive leadership searches for your institution.

The successful resolution of the KBIC Academic Medicine assignments is distinguished by the consistent process we follow on every search. The foundation of a successful search requires a partnership between client and consultant, an understanding and agreement on roles that each participant will play in the process. We establish confidential, clear, and timely lines of communication and gain agreement on the candidate interviewing, decision-making, and hiring process, desired outcomes, etc. We apply a rigorous, timely process to every search customized to the needs and requirements of the client institution. We have considerable experience working with search committees and can incorporate that into our search strategy and communication plan.

Your authorized project lead at Kaye/Bassman will be available 24-hours per day for contact by your team and well-qualified candidates for every search. All forms of communication (email, phone, etc.) will be directed to the authorized project lead, and she/he will respond within at least 24-hours.

We do not practice parallel processing. When you engage our services, we enter a partnership where we commit our time and dedicate effort specifically to your search. We function as an extension of your organization and will not present other opportunities to candidates that you are actively evaluating. You will not compete with other clients as our search efforts are targeted to your opportunity.

Utilizing our specialized research team, extensive network of contacts, and robust database, we conduct our own research and develop a new candidate pool for each search, rather than recycling candidates from previous searches. Unlike other firms who only present a slate of candidates at one time, we offer clients the option of running candidates through the process concurrently versus sequentially. Through this process adjustment, we are able, in many cases, to shorten the search cycle while not adversely affecting the quality of candidates. In fact, our approach has resulted in a higher level of candidate interest.

We evaluate all candidates consistently – internal and external – in the same thoughtful, comprehensive way utilizing our proven approach. We treat each candidate professionally, and with dignity and respect. We treat internal candidates with sensitivity, tact, and objectivity.

Additionally, we will comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable laws and regulations.

Throughout each executive search, Kaye/Bassman establishes clear, confidential and timely lines of communication with you and your Search Committee of stakeholders and gain agreement on the candidate interviewing, decision-making, and hiring process for the search. An ideal timeframe (from initiation of search activities to successful completion of candidate selection and acceptance of the position) for placement of key roles, typically takes anywhere between three (3) to five (5) months. We do, however, have the available resources, search consultants, researchers, and staff support to begin working on your projects/engagements immediately following execution of the agreement/contract and to ensure meeting an aggressive implementation schedule.

A predetermined weekly or bi-weekly virtual or telephonic meeting (typically a max of 1 hour per week) with your Search Committee or Search Committee Chair has proven to be another effective tool in moving the process forward in a timely manner. We adjust our reporting method and frequency to accommodate client preferences; status reports are provided on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Through our original research, we are able to conduct our own research and develop a new candidate pool for each search, rather than recycling candidates from previous searches.

The restriction of travel for a face-to-face interview has been the most challenging. However, we have completed over a dozen searches that are pending a face-to-face interview and have successfully placed others that were able to drive to the interview. Additionally, we provide both live and recorded interviews as well as communication assessments for expediting the process of search committees while ensuring quality. Virtual video calls and video interviewing tools are routinely used to assist with the successful completion of several searches throughout this pandemic.
