Over his career, Eric has completed a wide variety of academic medicine leadership and executive leadership searches ranging from Chief Executive Officer, Vice President, Dean, Chair, and Director to Chief. His background with quality and process improvement has allowed him to be extremely effective at each search he has accepted. Over his almost two decades at Kaye/Bassman, Eric and his team’s functional specialty areas have included primary care, research, pediatrics, healthcare administration, emergency medicine, graduate medical education, undergraduate medical education, hematology/oncology, internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and radiology, etc.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. His areas of study were in business management, psychology and communications. He is a certified trainer in Quality and uses this process to help improve customer service for clients ranging from hospitals to healthcare outsourcing and consulting. Eric has extensive experience with behavioral based interviewing techniques and has conducted numerous regional and national salary surveys. His experience in these areas provides each of his clients with enhanced screening and ensures a high level of cultural and functional fit for each selected candidate.
Before joining Kaye/Bassman, Eric held the position as President and CEO of a major nonprofit organization. During the six years he was with this company, Eric led a 500% increase in revenue, 300% growth in customers served, and the expansion into 17 new locations.
After joining Kaye/Bassman, Eric was recognized as the first named Managing Partner in the firm in 2002, and in 2007, he was named as a Managing Director. In addition, Eric serves as a Senior Practice Leader for Kaye/Bassman’s healthcare division and leads the charge in the dynamic and growing market of healthcare with primary focus on those hard-to-fill searches requiring unique specialty training and certifications. Over the past decade, Eric’s specific focus has been in Academic Medicine & Leadership and Higher Education, where he has led over 500 successfully completed searches for Executive Officers, Presidents, Executive Vice Presidents, Deans, Chairs, Vice Chairs, Chiefs, Chief Operating Officers, Directors, Administrators, and Clinical and Research Faculty. Elaine is the Managing Partner and Practice Leader, co-leading the Kaye/Bassman Academic Medicine Practice.
Elaine brings the depth of a 15-year career as an academic medical center and higher education executive and consultant to her more than 22 years of executive search experience. She joined Kaye/Bassman in 2011 after a successful search career at two internationally recognized executive search firms.
She has successfully completed over 450 searches during her search career. Positions placed included Vice Presidents, Deans, Associate Deans, Chairs, Division Chiefs, Chief Academic Officers, Chief Medical Officers, Program, Fellowship and Clerkship Directors, Medical Directors, and clinical and research faculty in the academic, higher education, and the not-for-profit sectors. Her experience extends broadly in the administrative leadership functions at the health system level to include executive management, development and philanthropy, and medical education. Her industry sector experience includes integrated healthcare delivery systems, academic medical centers, physician practice groups, and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Elaine capitalizes on her strengths as a senior executive to become a strategic partner and consultant to her diverse client base. Experienced in multiple healthcare and higher education settings, as well as executive search, she leverages her organizational consulting and design experience to give clients added value of an insider’s perspective. Mark joined Kaye/Bassman in 2018 and brings more than 17 years’ experience in the academic healthcare search industry. His focus has been on a wide range of specialties, from Hospital-Based Medicine and Academics to Pharmacy and Therapy.

Prior to that, Mark spent over seven years marketing medical staff services in the Western United States region, holding the all-time record at one firm of $750,000 in marketing revenue.
Mark has always had a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. He started his career in sales in 1985, while studying economics and psychology at the University of Minnesota. His first job was selling software for the Commodore 64. He spent the next decade in the auto industry and was responsible for the sale of over $2 million in custom van and truck products to domestic dealers in the Texas region.
Mark then moved into a role in the food industry where he brokered manufactured foods to such high-profile clients as Starbucks Coffee Company and 7-Eleven. After joining the medical search industry in early 2005, Mark, in his first year, earned Rookie of the Year then went on to receive Marketer of the Year twice and Marketer of the Month more than three dozen times during his tenure. Lou Stark joined Kaye/Bassman after a very successful career in higher education. Prior to that he was an executive search consultant with a firm specializing in the higher education sector.
Lou has been in higher education his entire career and served in senior leadership roles for the last thirty. He has been at selective liberal arts colleges and highly selective private research universities. He retired from Case Western Reserve University in 2023 as Vice President for Student Affairs Emeritus.
Lou’s experience in working with a variety of senior leaders, mid managers and Boards of Trustees at different institutions gives him a unique and informed perspective in doing his search work. His focus is on culture and fit.
He received his B.S. in Psychology from Davis and Elkins College and his M.S.in Education, Counselor Education, with distinction, from Hofstra University. He has done additional study in Higher Education and received a Certificate in Management from Tulane University.
He is a member of national organizations and a current member of the Board of Trustees at Davis and Elkins College. He served on the NCAA Management Council for D3 and has been an active community leader.

Kurt has been a professional in the physician recruiting industry for over 25 years. He has successfully placed candidates for hundreds of clients nationwide from critical access hospitals to large tertiary health systems and academic medical centers. Prior to joining Kaye/Bassman, Kurt designed and managed a new physician recruitment department for the nation’s fifth largest pediatric health system comprised of 490-beds and multiple specialty business units. The Medical Center is affiliated with one of the largest medical schools in the country and Kurt was instrumental in recruiting numerous physicians to the program.
Kurt began his physician recruiting career at a large, nationwide retained physician search firm and advanced to a Sr. Director level in the 17 years he was there. In addition to managing recruiting teams and conducting training, he placed over 150 physicians and consulted on over 1,500 practice opportunities nationwide. Due to his achievements and success, Kurt was awarded Shareholder/Partnership after six years at the firm.
Kurt earned his Bachelors of Business Administration Degree with a concentration in Marketing from The University of Texas at Arlington. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan and made a 2-year pit stop in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to the Dallas area.
